Intro Image: the Star - everything is going to be okay

Tarot Alley uses the Rider Waite type of deck for our meanings, symbols, interpretations, etc.

The Star represents contentment, positivity, and hope from within. It’s a period of calmness and stability in your inner life.

No matter what life throws at you, you feel light and tuned in to yourself. There’s a beacon within you (the star) shining out to the world.

Take a look at the Rider-Waite Star displayed to the left (or above).

What is your first impression?

Who is this person? What are they doing? Where are they? Why are they nude? What does the other imagery say to you?

There’s no right or wrong answer here, just your interpretation.

Astrology: Aquarius
Element: Air
Numerology: 17 = 1+7=8 (movement, action, swiftness)

the Star for Personal Growth

An optimist sees what is … and what can be. Open yourself to possibility. Numbers never tell the whole story. Shed your ego; be yourself, no matter what others think. The only truly unique thing you have to share is the person you really are. Unmask!

Ask Yourself:

  • What would your higher power direct you to do?
  • How can you be less self-conscious and guarded?
  • How can you better attune yourself to the abundance of life’s blessings?
  • In your situation, who is following whom – and why?
  • Might the key to your situation be the application of consistent effort over time?
  • What are your own inexhaustible resources? How can they help?
  • What would happen if you embraced yourself completely?
  • In your situation, who is the magician and who is the mediator?

Interpreting the Star

You are you.

Let that sink in for a moment.

You are you. You cannot be someone else. The Star is here to guide you & help you use (and possibly become) yourself.

You are beautiful. You are capable. You are positive. You have hopes and dreams. Everything is going to be okay because within you are infinite possibilities.

The Star is telling you to be true to yourself. Answer whatever calling you hear.

The Reversed Star

How you read reversals is a personal choice. You can ignore reversals and read them as if the card is upright (this is what I often choose to do) or you can interpret reversals as variations of what they would mean upright. There are 3 common ways to read reversals: as a negative interpretation, as an opposite interpretation, or as a block on the upright interpretation. Check out How to Read Reversals for more information.

Negative: A negative reversed Star suggests a feeling of hopelessness. This does not mean that things are hopeless, only that you feel that way.

Opposite: An opposite reversed Star means feelings of anxiousness.

Blocked: A blocked reversed Star indicates something is preventing you from looking inside yourself and finding contentment and hope. It’s likely you’re feeling hopeless or anxious (or both).

Examples of the Star

Specific Interpretations

Specific situations are the general interpretation (from above) used for a specific situation (love, career, etc). There is no need to memorize these (or even look them up) if you understand the general interpretation. However, here are some basic interpretations for some specific situations:

Love & Relationships

When it comes to love and relationships, the Star is sign of positivity and depth.

If you’re in a relationship, the Star represents progress. If your relationship has been moving smoothly, it’s about to get deeper; move onto the next step. If you’ve been having relationship problems, it’s time to start healing those and moving forward in a positive manner.

If you’re single, the Star suggests that now is a great time put yourself out there! Your love life is looking good.

Reversed

Negative: A negative reversed Star suggests that you’re too focused on the negatives of your love life. Dig deep for the positives and focus on those.

Opposite: An opposite reversed Star means stagnation. You’ve fallen into a pit and can’t seem to bring yourself out. You need to bring yourself out of it before you take your relationship to the next level or start dating.

Blocked: A blocked reversed Star indicates something is preventing you from adding depth and positivity to your relationships. It’s time to sort it out.

Professional Life

Good things are coming your way. The Star suggests that you’re feeling inspired and opportunities abound. Now is a great time to make positive changes.

Reversed

Negative: A negative reversed the Star suggests unhappiness with your current professional life and/or finances.

Opposite: An opposite reversed the Star means boredom. It’s hard to be inspired and full of hope when you feel stagnant.

Blocked: A blocked reversed the Star indicates something is preventing you from seeing the opportunities all around you. Open your eyes!!

Health & Wellness

You are coming into a time of great health or healing. This is especially true if you’ve been struggling with body issues. The Star suggests now is the time to work on – and achieve – body positivity.

Reversed

Negative: A negative reversed the Star suggests anxiety. Your health might not be bad, but you’re certainly worried about it.

Opposite: An opposite reversed the Star means anxiety. This is the same as negative, even if your health isn’t bad you’ll be feeling anxious and worried about it.

Blocked: A blocked reversed the Star indicates something is preventing you from appreciating your health or wellness. Is anxiety affecting you?
